When the warm weather is on the horizon, you begin to think about spending more time outdoors and soaking up the sunshine. If the outdoor living space at your home leaves something to be desired, here are some easy things you can do to spruce it up and create the outdoor oasis of your dreams.
Create a Sitting Area
Whether you have a concrete or paved patio or you simply choose to put chairs directly in the lawn, creating a dedicated sitting area can add some interest to your yard and encourage friends and neighbors to stop by for a visit. If you worry about getting too hot, consider planting some trees to provide shade or looking into retractable canopy pricing to see if that is the best shady solution.
Plant a Garden
If space permits, choose some bright, happy flowers and plant a garden. If you have a particularly green thumb, consider planting some vegetables that you can enjoy all season and even share with your friends. A pretty garden can make any yard look more friendly and inviting, so even if you have limited space, consider adding a fun splash of flowers to liven things up.
Add a Water Feature
There is little that is more relaxing than the sound of water, so add a small pond with a fountain to your yard. If your budget and space do not allow for something quite this drastic, purchase a small sculpture that has a water feature or even a freestanding stone fountain. If you are lucky enough to have a pool, consider adding a waterfall for aesthetics as well as a calming, serene sound.
Install a Firepit
Everyone tends to flock to the neighbor’s home that has a firepit, so why not make it your home? Build your own pit out of pavers, or simply purchase one from a store to place in your yard (never directly on top of grass for safety’s sake). Surround your new pit with comfortable chairs — adirondacks are always a good option — and invite friends over to enjoy a fire on a cool night. Your yard will be the most popular spot in the neighborhood, and who knows — you may even make some new friends as a result.
Creating a dreamy outdoor living area can be easy. Follow these simple tips and you’ll have an outside space that you can be proud of.
